A study published by the journal Nursing & Health Services found that in Connecticut, two of the state’s largest hospitals — Evergreen Hospital in Hartford and the Bridgeport Mental Hospital in Bridgeport — had the highest rates of overcrowding of any nursing homes.

A total of 7,946 nursing homes were cited in the study.

The report also found that the number of patients in nursing homes is increasing.

While the study doesn’t include numbers for the number who live in nursing facilities in Hartford, the state reported a decrease in the number in 2014.
